Job Description:
We are looking for a skilled and proactive Linux & OpenShift Administrator with hands-on experience in managing Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat OpenShift (OCP) clusters, and IBM Cloud Paks (CP4I, CP4BA, CP4D, etc.). This role demands a strong foundational understanding of platform operations, containerization, system troubleshooting, and enterprise-grade middleware and PaaS administration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Linux System Administration:
- Perform installation, configuration, tuning, patching, and security hardening of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot OS-level issues, and perform regular backups and health checks.
- OpenShift Administration:
- Install, configure, upgrade, and manage OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) clusters.
- Manage cluster nodes, storage, networking, authentication, and integrations.
- Apply patches, monitor cluster health, and ensure high availability.
- IBM Cloud Paks Administration:
- Deploy and administer IBM Cloud Paks such as CP4I, CP4BA, CP4D, CP4MCM, etc.
- Manage operators, troubleshoot workloads, and support Cloud Pak configurations and upgrades.
- Work with DevOps teams to ensure smooth deployment and scaling of applications hosted on Cloud Pak environments.
- Monitoring & Logging:
- Set up and maintain logging/monitoring solutions for system and cluster performance (e.g., ELK, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Support & Maintenance:
- Provide L2/L3 support for Linux, OCP, and Cloud Pak-related incidents.
- Maintain operational documentation, SOPs, and knowledge articles.
- Collaboration & Delivery:
- Work closely with DevOps, application, and security teams for efficient delivery and support.
- Participate in change management, compliance activities, and capacity planning.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 4–7 years of overall experience in IT Infrastructure/Platform Operations.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience with OpenShift (OCP) administration.
- Strong background in Linux administration (RHEL preferred).
- Experience administering one or more IBM Cloud Paks.
- Familiarity with containerization, Helm, and YAML configurations.
- Basic understanding of Kubernetes and cloud-native architecture.
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps processes is a plus.
Preferred Skills:
- RHCSA/RHCE or OpenShift certifications (EX280/EX288).
- IBM Certified Administrator for Cloud Paks (preferred).
- Exposure to backup tools, monitoring systems, and infrastructure automation (Ansible/Terraform).
- Understanding of security best practices in containerized environments.
